The Soi Dog Blues Band, based these days as house band Fridays and Saturdays at Tokyo Joe’s over on Sukhumvit Soi 26, have ‘done a deal with the devil’ and persuaded visiting Kansas City blues star Glenn Patrik to stay and play lead guitar with the band, while their regular guitarist Daeng Fender goes to Europe on a fact-finding mission.

Patrik headlined the recent Bangkok Blues Festival and wowed the crowds with his fantastic fretboard skills and fine feel for the blues - not a million miles away from his blues brother Stevie Ray Vaughan it must be said - even though he don’t play no Strat.

Glenn told BangkokJungle he considered the offer carefully and ’some seven seconds’ after Soi Dog’s Jeff T invited him to stay over for a month, he accepted with an enormous twinkle in his eye, muttering something about ‘the grass being greener this side of the pond’.

“And my gig schedule doesn’t really kick in until September proper, so this is a great opportunity to practice my skills and write some new songs…”
