The Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit presents the operatic performance, “Don Pasquale.”

Tonight, the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit presented the operatic performance of “Don Pasquale” in their Grand Ballroom. This was the first of only two performances at the hotel.

Originally staged in Paris in 1843, Gaetano Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale” is a spirited tale of romantic entanglements. This performance by the award winning European Chamber Opera is one of the best loved operas in its repertoire. This opera has a light hearted plot with a memorable and melodic score.

The story focuses on an ageing bachelor, Don Pasquale, who decides to deny his nephew, Ernesto, of his inheritance because he disapproves of Ernestoe’s desire to marry the lively Norina. In order to teach him a lesson, Norina poses as a potential bride to be for Don Pasquale. After mistaken identities run wild, Don Pasquale learns in the end,” It is better to let true love have its way.”

The second performance of the opera will be presented Wednesday night, 16 March.

I attended last night’s performance of “Don Pasquale and was delighted with this stunning presentation. As with most events held by the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, the audience was entertained beyond their expectations. This was one of what I hope will be a continuing series by the Sheraton and co-sponsor Daimer Benz to offer something culturally different to Bangkok.

I have a question for anyone who might know,
“How did they get that Mercedes automobile up to the third floor”?

  2. Dave Says:

They stripped it down, brought it in piece by piece, and put it back together– that is my guess at least.

  3. dave2 Says:

Nope. They used a crane and hoisted the entire car up.

    Dave or Dave(s),

I personally think there is frieght elevator somewhere and Cecil just didn’t see it. I will ask the next time I am over at the Sheraton.

  5. Dave Says:

I would love to know now how they did it. Seems like the cheapest way to do it would strip it and then you don’t need to rent a crane. I could believe the freight elevator however if the car was fully loaded i am not certain the elevator would handle the weight unless they took out the engine.
