Dracula Undead production begins Wednesday

The Dracula Undead stage production in Bangkok.

Count Dracula, played by Franck Fougere, reacts to the arrival of Jonathon Harker. The media was invited last night to view excerpts from Dracula Undead, a play written and directed by Dale Gutzman. The play is being performed by members of the Bangkok Community Theatre.
From the excerpts we witnessed, this should be an interesting performance as it will attempt to break the traditional rules of live theatre. It is a combination of multi-media, dance, music and audience interaction. Says Gutzman, he will attempt to explore the very nature of fear itself. He also promises there will be lots of blood.
The play set to begin February 22nd and to end on February 25th at the BangkokTheatre@Metropolis located on the 7th floor of the Big C /EGV building on Rajdamri Road, which is located across from the Central World Plaza (WTC). Showtime begins at 7:30 pm each night. Tickets and further information is available on the Bangkok Community Theatre website. The production is in English and is recommended only for adults and students age 16 and over.

  1. Jonathan Harker's Wife Says:

“Dracula Undead” should be a really unforgettable experience. I have seen the excerpts and I vow to marry Jonathan Harker, but only because Dracula seems to be more interested in the same sex. Why run after Jonathan when there are hot vampire women around? Hmmm. I want Dracula. Please be non-gay!

  2. watcher from the grave Says:

I dont find Jonathan Harker interesting. He is WHITE fine or ENGLISH or what is he but still he is NOT “hot”. DRACULA is sensous, gorgeous and hot.

    The THREE VAMPIRES are AMAZING!
But is the other one gay?

    LUCY is “hot” too.
MINA is “sensual” and is quite confident with her sexuality.

  3. flaye Says:

The storyline was awesome! I particularly loved the incorporation of biblical lines… “take this bread… drink the wine… this is my body,” “It is finished” — how cool is that! makes it even more eerie.
And the video clips showing ‘modern morbidity’ — nice.

Intense moments: The three blood-slurping vampires’ brawl over Jonathan Harper, 1st scene after the intermission - Mina, Jonathan, & the crazy guy, amazing effects of light and sound during the last caravan chase….

    Dracula was sizzling. zzzzz.. :)

  4. Gypsy girl Says:

I’m playing one of the gypsies in Dracula! It is so much fun. Anyway just to say
    1 Dracula is not gay.
2 The third Vampire Omar DEFINITLY is.
3 Jonathan Harker AKA Felix Edmonston is incredibly gorgeous.
4 This show is totally amazing, so if haven’t already got them, buy your tickets NOW!

  5. flaye Says:

Kudos, gypsy girl! You guys did great!
Omar, my friend! Your award for the show — most mobile. :)
Yes, the show is definitely something everyone should check out.

  6. insomniac Says:

    Dracula
    - gorgeous, sensual and hot. there is no doubt that the actor’s potrayal of DRACULA is fresh and raw yet awesome. though i must say that there are some moments where he tends to break away his character. CONSISTENCY is very important.

    Renfield
    - that is what you call an ACTOR, he is mad yet gorgeous. he is crazy yet sensual. and the MOUSE scene is all about MADNESS.

    Jonathan Harker
    - sad to say “good looks” can never compensate to a good acting. should i say you need to do some acting workshops. i am wondering how did you manage to do “dual roles” as stated in your play bill.

    Dr. Van Helsing
    - there is no questions, he is a seasoned actor. his moves, his delivery of lines and his “stage business” says it all. yet he seems to be “lost in translation”. in that partcular scene where he was talking to MINA, Dr. Seward and the Lucy was lying in the makeshift bed out of coffins, he is only after his character, never relating to the characters on the scene. he is a product of old theater school, “concept acting” and i think it is about time he should do a refresher course in acting workshops. the number of plays you have been involved in doesnt guarantee you are good actor. take a look of DRACULA, new yet effective and the audience will forgive him if he is not consistent sometimes.

    MINA
    - fantastic! awesome! hot! and an A list actor for me.

    LUCY
    - hot! commendable acting.

    THREE VAMPIRES
    - they compliment each other. the beauty of Vampire 1, the moves of Vampire 3 and the sensuality of Vampire 3. the director is just but right to have this combo.

    Gypsy 1
    - she is just PERFECT! no other words.

    Gypsy 2
    - (is this the SOPRANO woman?) concept acting, she blends perfectly with Dr. Van Helsing. she might as well focus on her singing career. she has “great” voice anyway.

    Gypsy 3
    - needs more exposure. the role is perfect for him. he is GORGEOUS!

    Dr. Seward
    - yummy! though I must tell, his voice sounds a teenager. he has to modulate his voice. there are some scenes that he sounds like my younger brother.

    HORSES (first scene)
    - AWESOME!

    LAST SCENE
    - FANTASTIC!

  7. Darkness Says:

It was awesome! I love the show so much! Too bad I only got to see it once on the last night! But totally fantastic! Um one question Gypsy Girl, what’s the title of that song track from the final scene before the intermission? It was a great song.
And Dracula was just…well…he blew my mind!

  8. Jonathan's Lover Says:

This play was incredible and if you missed it, you missed a swarm of hotness!

Dracula was AMAZING!!! I wish I were Lucy in that last scene before the intermission. *licks blood off of his chest*

Dr. Sieward definitely should have taken his shirt off at one point, though, if not for the entire play. *wink*

And the three vampires should burn that white sheet that they used to cover up Jonathan because he was go-go-go-GORGEOUS! *licks lips* Take me, Jonathan, I need salvation!!!

  9. frostedflicker Says:

    music, visuals, casting…perfect!

the most versatile…Omar! hats off to u mah friend, u were popping out almost everywhere, like a cartoon character, not in a funny way though since u did an impressive job!

good work peeps…looking forward to the next one!

  10. omar Says:

…no other words, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!…

  11. Baby Gypsy Says:

Yoohoo! It is me, the youngest member of the cast. 0:) Decided to drop by to say thank you to everyone who was part of the play. It was an amazing experience and I shall cherish all of you forever! Can’t wait to see you guys again at the DVD party! Soon. SOON!!! 0;p

  12. Aaron Kopec Says:

By FAR the best part of the show is when Jonathon is handed that book by that cute gypsy girl!! That and the videos.

Ok… i guess the whole thing was amazing and a complete joy to be a small, SMALL part of!!!!

    Thank you everyone!
    -a

  13. Baby Gypsy Says:

By the way insomniac, which performance did you actually see?

  14. insomniac Says:

i was there during the first night of the run and the second to the last performance of the play.

why do you wanna know baby gypsy?

  15. watcher from the grave Says:

wardrobe malfunction? janet jackson bangkok live in action?!? wow! i was seated infront when that night where LUCY bared all.

    she is so HOT!

  16. someone with taste Says:

i have been meaning to comment on the “i hate jonathan club members” that have been commenting on this site. but have only found time to do so now.

y r so many people here so harsh on jonathan in the 1st place?

i watched every show (wed-sat) and i must say that he is an amazing actor who carries himself well. it is hard to act so constantly scared all the time. and the fact that he throws himself all over the place and burns himself with a candle and drags himself on the floor isnt something that every actor could or would do (not to mention, “baring all” -well, almost, at least- in front of so huge a crowd).

i think ur comments r quite harsh and rude. how do u think he would feel if he read this? (which we can only hope he doesnt.) of course he is british, and white, and handsome. that is why he was probably chosen for the role in the first place. that is what jonathan harker is supposed to look like.

personally, i think he is what stood out most in the play. he had the look, the voice, and the acting ability i had always imagined of a jonathan harker. i applaud him. and so do most of the people i brought to the play (which is quite a lot).

if u r reading this, jonathan, keep up the good work!

  17. theater enthusiasts Says:

    OPEN MESSAGE

    to

    someone with taste (?)

what are you talking about? you been watching the play for like the whole run which is 4 nights?

what on the earth are you talking about?
what kind of “theater” have you been watching.
you should ask all the cast and including the DIRECTOR about JONTHAN HARKER’s “bad” acting.

    you gotta be kidding….

    duh…..

  18. someone with taste Says:

    i beg to differ.

if dale gutzman thinks that jonathan harker is a bad actor, he wouldnt have chosen him to play the role in the first place. “duh!” back to u!

and yes, i have been watching the play for four nights. and i have reason to do so. but that of course cannot be said here.

  19. Cryptopath Says:

I liked it. The play was an interesting take on the story, but too much influenced by the various other renditions. I particularly liked the superhero-esque nature of Dr. Van Helsing (and his vials of holy water stored in his handy utility belt). If you don’t remember, does “HOOOOLY WATER!!!” ring a bell? All in all, I’m sure it was a great experience for the actors/actresses and the audience.
