After organisers were so pleased with the response to the first ever blues ‘fringe festival’ held in tandem with the official Hua Hin Jazz Festival this year, they have opted to stage a full blues festival next year and plan to run the event in a bigger venue or in more venues, over one or two days and once again in parallel with the main jazz festival.

This year The Mercy Street Blues Band headlined the three-day ‘underground’ festival and delighted thousands of bemused onlookers as they delivered their trademark blues and gave the surprised jazz fans something to enjoy before the festival proper got underway every evening.

Playing under cover at the Sailom Pavilion, the Bangkok-based Mercy Street Blues Band band featured Mekong Doctor Blues on voice and guitar and California Greg Carroll on blues harp and vocals. The blues festival organisers hope to feature two or three bands next year and switch them through a similar number of venues over three days or so.
