Jeff Beck Makes Hall of Fame Short List - Again!

These 2 giantsDespite already being in the Rock Hall as a member of the Yardbirds, word that he has been nominated as a solo performer has put a smile on the face of the world’s greatest ever electric guitar player. Jeff Beck told Jungle that the honor meant the world to him: “It’s, like, amazing actually, ’cause the Yardbirds thing didn’t quite do it for me — you know, when they were inducted — ’cause I was thrown out of that band, and it was kind of like a back-handed compliment, you know what I mean? No, I’m thrilled to bits. That’s great, man. Tremendous.”

The shortlist of nominees for the 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction include Metallica, Run-DMC, and the Stooges featuring Iggy Pop. Other nominees for this year’s induction include Chic, Wanda Jackson, War, Little Anthony and the Imperials and Bobby Womack.

The ceremony is set for April 4th at Cleveland’s Public Hall marking the first time in 12 years that the ceremony will be held in Cleveland. In a Rock Hall first, this year’s ceremony will have tickets made available to the public.

Nominees are eligible on the 25th anniversary of their debut release under their official name.

Metallica has been eligible since last year when they were passed over, Chic has been eligible for five years, and the Stooges have been eligible for induction for 14 years. The list of final inductees will be announced in January.
