Jungle Vine: One World Beat

Jungle Vine column about music news in BangkokOne World Beat, if you don’t know already, starts tonight. No reason to rehash it here. Go see our previous story about it. This just in: Father Joe will be in to give a brief talk before One World Beat begins on Friday at Tokyo Joe’s.

See you tonight at Tokyo Joe’s as Bangkok Jungle will be shooting pictures of the entire event.

  • Noriega’s will begin hosting part of the One World Beat on Friday night.

    From Paul Williams’s newsletter about Noriega’s Bar:
    The line up on Friday [for One World Beat], which starts at 7.30pm includes myself, Mr X, Mr Simon and “in your face” soul/rock band Innuendo. Please come along and support this cause by drinking, putting money in the donation boxes, or buying one of the special commemorative T-Shirts.

  • Anyone care to reply to Cecil’s comment on the ‘Don Pasquale’ story? Amusingly, he is wondering how they were able to get a Mercedes Benz car onto the third floor of the Sheraton Sukhumvit.
  • In our classified section, there is an ad for a keyboard player from Seoul, Korea looking for work in Bangkok.

  • Tonight: Robinson School Music, Rajabhat Ubonratchathain University High Scorers Concert at the Thailand Culture Centre
  • Tonight: Rajabhat Ubonratchathain University artists performing Isaan Music
  • 18 March: Thai Superstars Suppakorn Kitsuwan and Setasiri Nirund in a musical drama at the Thailand Stock Exchange
  • 19 March: DJ Stephane Pompaugnac is playing that the Sofitel Silom Bangkok Hotel
  • 20 March: Jirapan Angsawanon perform solo guitar at the Thailand Cultural Center
  • March 21: Bangkok Symphony Orchestra will perform at the Thailand Cultural Center
  • March 24: Opera stars, soprano Jenny Miller and tenor David Barrell will be performing at the Grand Ballroom of the Arnoma Hotel
  • 24 March: “Don’t Panic Party” drum and bass party hosted by DJ Natz and DJ Pichy at Café Democ
