December 5 is the King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s birthday, Father of the whole nation. It is a National holiday and is also a special day for every father in Thailand. Thai people make merits on Father’s Day by offering foods to monks, showing their love to father and lighting up candles in respect of the King. Religious rites are held, houses and buildings are decorated with flags, lights and the King’s portraits. There will also be a huge celebration with firework displays at Rajchadamnern Avenue, Sanam Luang, Plabpla Jesadabhadin Platform, Yaowarat in Bangkok and other places throughout the nation.
