MORE BLUES: Bangkok’s Mothership?
The Saxophone Pub and Restaurant is a Bangkok institution and has been serving up the hottest blues and jazz bands in town for twenty years. Featuring local Thai and expat musicians and musos, there’s no cover charge fee and plenty of cool sounds. With its reputation for high quality jazz and blues firmly established, Saxophone also serves up a bit of Latin and Thai ska/reggae some nights. (see schedule)
Drinks are reasonably priced (by Bangkok standards) and the food is excellent, while the decor resembles a spacious upmarket barn with chunky wooden tables and chairs. Upstairs part of the seating is on cushions with a view over the balcony of the action below. And this is a straight venue where music and alcohol are the main priorities.
