One World Beat Global Music Festival hits Bangkok

The third annual benefit concert to support children living with HIV/AIDS, will be held in Bangkok, 17, 18 and 19 March and hosted by Tokyo Joe’s Blues Bar.
The 2005 One World Beat Global Music Festival, which began in Switzerland as an all-volunteer effort of socially conscious musicians, NGOs and volunteers uniting to stage concerts for charities expands this year to 200 events in 40 countries around the world.
The three-day global music festival is a series of concerts taking place simultaneously in various cities, including New York, Paris, London, Los Angeles, Sydney, and Bangkok, providing a platform for musicians to convey a message of hope through their music;
“Making a Difference With Music”
In Bangkok, the event is again taking place at Tokyo Joe’s Blues Bar in Sivaporn Plaza, Sukhumvit Soi 24, opposite the Ariston Hotel. The three day event will feature the cream of Bangkok’s premier Blues, Jazz and R & B groups, as well as a night of Rock and Metal bands, all of whom are donating their skills for free. Donations in Thailand will be given to Father Joe Maier at the HDF Mercy Centre in Klong Toey.

Father Joe Maier from the HDF Mercy Centre will give a brief presentation at 20.00 on Friday, March 18, concerning his work at the center. Afterwards the live music begins with Doctor Blues.
On Thursday, there will be one solo performer and three bands bringing you some great music not normally featured at Tokyo Joe’s. Steve Barnett opens the Bangkok OWB with his original compositions on acoustic guitar. Playing for the first time at Tokyo Joe’s are Jealous, who play melodic metal, Stranded, which is a rock band, and The Innuendoes, playing Soul, R&B and a couple of pop songs thrown in for good measure. Friday and Saturday includes some of the hardest hitting artists performing jazz and blues in all it’s varieties.

Zoodles on Soi Thonglor 9. will be providing fresh oysters; they will be served at Tokyo Joe’s for the three nights of the festival, with part of each sale donated to the fund.
Tokyo Joe’s will also be offering their collectible event Tee Shirts for sale with 100 baht from each sale being donated toward the fund.
