One World Beat wraps up in Thailand

It was three days of some of the best music Thailand has to offer. Three music venues, Tokyo Joe’s on Sukhumvit Soi 24, Noriega’s on Silion Soi 4 and Coco’s Blues on Koh Sumui Island, wrapped up their One World Beat events in Thailand on March 17, 18 and 19. In keeping with One World Beat’s aims of helping children infected with HIV/AIDS, the Bangkok event’s donations will be given to the Human Development Foundation in its helping of children infected with HIV/AIDS in Bangkok.

The event has been called “successful” in Tokyo Joe’s newsletter released this morning.

At Tokyo Joe’s, the benefit was held on all three days and had the honor of hosting the first 2005 OWB concert worldwide. Ten bands and two solo performers gave their time and music for the help the cause. The performers were Steve Barnett, Jealous, Stranded, Innendoes, Doctor Blues, Hanni Bee, Blue on Blue, Cannonball, Adam Ryan, Stone Head, The Jungle, and the Soi Dog Blues Band.

Father Joe Maier who founded the HDF Mercy Centre thanked the crowd and musicians for their support. Father Maier has been helping the poor in the Klong Toey slums areas of Bangkok since the early 70’s.

Bangkok Jungle was there for all three days of the event at Tokyo Joe’s. We want to say we enjoyed every single performance. We also want to thank Jeff T and Jay at Tokyo Joe’s for allowing us to be a sponsor of this event at their club. It was fun.
