Overtone Jazz Venue Opens On RCA
Friday 27th was time to let the beer flow and the jammers jam as Prart and Layla opened the doors of their beautiful new jazz club over on RCA. The many guests and friends of the gracious couple were suitably impressed with the cool decor and professional sound system, and although this was a very low key, ’soft-soft’ opening, it was a great taste of things to come with Prart taking the stage with his friends - including Koh Mr Saxman - to knock out some classic contemporary jazz and very tasty jazz improv.
Keith Nolan’s Cannonball Blues Band took the stage for a three-number blues cameo performance featuring Sweden’s finest international drummer Bennie White. Other guests included Thai guitar star Olan, drummer Tot Soi Dog, Grammy/Giraffe Record’s Chai Bettlenut, a smart-but-casual Dr Blues and many others, including keyboard ace Ning who blew us all away with his world class chops and that winning smile.
Looks like we have a real jazz venue in town at last and we will be watching the schedules as the venue has plans to bring some major jazz names to town soon, including bass meister Stu Hamm and guitar ace Scott Henderson.
See you there!
