Report from “Party Island”:
Vulcan Love Launch

story by Guy Baker
The Vulcan Love Launch started on Friday, February 11, in Pataya on Koh Larn, with a street fair and night parade, complete with stilt-walkers and girls in multi-colored butterfly costumes, with giant wings. The following day, the music started in the afternoon. Japanese DJ Katsugi got the crowd in the mood with some reggae and Japanese pop. The sun was hot, the ocean breeze on Samae Beach was gentle and the people were in the mood for fun. Then, as the afternoon slipped away and evening approached, DJ Christian from Thailand spun techno tunes. As twilight fell, the band Apartment Khun Pa started warming up with some very excellent blues and jazz riffs. The mayor of Koh Larn said a few words of welcome to the music lovers on the sand, and then Apartment Khun Pa gave an exciting performance. The Vulcan Love Launch continued throughout the night and turned Koh Larn into the place to be for the weekend. The Love Launch was well-organized, with sponsors such as Finlandia Vodka and Singh Beer. The Vulcan staff were everywhere, making sure that security and entertainment was professional and enjoyable. Samae Beach on Koh Larn was gorgeous and the Vulcan Love Launch was great fun with perfect music.
