Artist profile by Alex Pithie
Tewan Sapsanyakorn was born in Nakorn Ratchasima, Thailand, the eldest of six children. He started playing jazz at the age of 17. He is an unusually independent Thai musician, with a special interest in jazz, skilled in various instruments including the Clarinet, Flute and Violin, with his main instrument the Saxophone.

Tewan is noted for being probably the first Thai musician to fuse Jazz with Thai Traditional Music and instrumentation, mixing multiple styles together to create a genuinely new genre of music, “Thai Jazz Fusion”.

He is the first Thai artist who has gained a number of Jazz & Instrumental Jazz Music listeners in the Kingdom of Thailand. He has toured many countries including Europe, America, Australia & Asia. Tewan has undeniably become one of the top saxophonists on the Asian Jazz Circuit.

He was a founding member of The Infinity Band the first Thai Fusion Jazz Band with Sarayuth Supanyo. Later he formed a band called Kangsdarn, again mixing Thai musical instruments with Jazz.

He has appeared as a guest star with The Hot Pepper Band, The Fong Nam Band and with Thai artists including Raewat Phuttinan, Thongchai “Bird” McIntire, Nantida Kaewbuasai and Grand X.
