Yesterday Bangkok Jungle had the privilege of attending the “Flowers for Andaman-Live Jazz for Life” concert at the Thailand Cultural Center; which was being held for the benefit of the victims of the tsunami disaster. This event was hosted by a number of prominent Thai organizations as well as private individuals; additionally there was a significant attendance by local Bangkok residents that demonstrated their sincerity.

Throughout the evening, the event attendees were continuously overwhelmed by the quality of the performers. Their compassion for the tsunami disaster victims and their losses was evidenced in the enthusiasm of the individual performances. Numerous well known local Thai musicians performed conjunctively with local “ex-pat” musicians to combine groups that entertained the attendees.

The performers at this event included Mark Hodkin’s Bangkok Big Band, Mahidol Jazz Faculty, Lek T-Bone, Manop Varonitipas, Ted Lewand, Mee Faa Music Academy, Eddie Autobahn, Tang Anusorn Pattanakul, Man Padoldeck Boon Nak, Yoi Yongyuth Pewsuwan, Nok Surachai Rakthongthai, Mansri, Bamboo Bar Jazz Band & Maci Miller, Tong Tavan, Jirapan Ungsawanon, Ple Pachara Dila, Chai Blues, Brown Sugar Jazz Band & Gale Dila, Dr. Den Uprasert, Infinity, Tanapat Mattayomchan, Bangkok Connection, Francios Lindermann and Tewan Novel Jazz. Richie Walker, music director and morning DJ at 98.5 Breeze FM, participated as a notable MC at the event.

Also contributing to this important event, there were numerous food vendors who in their effort to contribute had priced their food very fairly. Equally represented were two local beer distributors, Paulaner and Heineken, who in their effort to contribute had also reduced their prices.

The Thailand Cultural Center should also be applauded for their recognition of the importance of this event as well as their ability to have organized and managed an event of this significance so quickly.

This was an event that you should not have missed.
