Them Drums Is The Message!

Word on the street is that ex-Yes, King Crimson drummer Bill Bruford and his band Earthworks, featuring Tim Garland, formerly with Chick Corea are heading for Bangkok. Bruford is pencilled in for the Hua Hin Jazz Festival too, and will hold a clinic in Bangkok and a concert, both on different days at the AUA Auditorium on Rajdamri. The Bangkok clinic, sponsored by Tama, is scheduled May 31, the Bangkok concert June 1 and Hua Hin concert June 3. The full line-up will be Bill Bruford (drums, log drum), Tim Garland (tenor/soprano saxophones, flute, bass clarinet), Gwilym Simcock (piano), Laurie Cottle (bass).
Mahavishnu Orchestra founder member Billy Cobham and his world music jazz band Culturemix also plan to perform in concert at the Thai Cultural Center, and Cobham will host a drum clinic at AUA Auditorium too. His Bangkok concert is scheduled May 9, the Yamaha clinic May 10, and a possible Pattaya concert May 11.
These jazz titans are coming at the invitation of new local jazz promotion outfit Enlightened Planet. More news when we get the details, and the skinny on how our visitors can win free tickets to both concerts and clinics!

The Cobham concert and clinic are both on his website. Any one know how to get tickets for both?

I just called Yamaha and sadly the Billy Cobham clinic is cancelled. I don’t know about the Bill Bruford clinic.

Not sadly….the dealer here refused to donate their time and help sponsor the clinic. We had to go to Japan direct just to get a kit! The Bruford clinic is a go!
