I shot the above picture while I was listening to Scotty Wright perform in the Lobby Lounge of the Four Seasons Hotel, 155 Rahadamri Road. The shot is looking up the grand staircase from the lobby.

Incidentally, we will have an article of our interview with Scotty Wright shortly online. My apology to Scotty as this has been a busy week. Please be sure to catch this sensational jazz singer while he is still at the hotel.

The Jungle Vine

  • Three Elvis impersonators will be performing at Radio City, Patpong Entertainment Zone, tonight, June 24th. This odd event only happens one time a year at Radio City. Tom Jones will be there too.
  • Radio Free Europe has a story about the reigning Miss Universe having been born in Russia. The story also mentions how she is a trained pianist.
  • The Diplomat Bar, The Conrad Hotel, is offering a High Tea Buffet every Saturday and Sunday from 3 pm to 5:45 pm. The hotel is promoting Chocolate California Maki, Chocolate Winter Nursery, Chocolate Fondue, and Chocolate Noodles with White Cream Sauce from their menu. I am not sure why they called it a tea buffet when they should had called it a chocolate buffet. In any event, it might be good time to check out the Diplomat’s new resident jazz singer Linda Niles. For reservations, please call 0 2690 9999 or email to : info@conradbangkok.com.
  • This Saturday night you can find The Unfunkables at Noriega’s, Silon Soi 4. Might be an interesting band based on the write up about them in Paul’s newsletter: “The up coming gig at Noreiga’s features 3 blokes and one woman; Thai, Dutch, American and Australian.” Also at Noriega’s, don’t forget about DJ Dr. Salsa on Sundays with lessons starting at 7 pm.
  • Two bits of news from Adam, the bass player, from the Fugitives and the Innuendoes. The Fugitives will begin playing at Robin Hood’s, Sukhumvit Soi 33/1, on Thursdays. The Innuendoes will begin playing at Pedro’s Music Bar, which is located on the corner Sukhumvit Road and Asoke. Adam also adds that Pedro’s can get pretty raunchy. You might want to ask Adam about it.
  • Eddie Autobahn will be performing at Mojo’s, Sukhumvit Soi 33, every Friday and Saturday night starting June 24th.
  • Dasa Book Café, the best used book story in town, is celebrating their first anniversary next month. Fifteen percent off all second-hand books throughout the month of July. Check out their website at www.dasabookcafe.com.
  • There is pool tournament at Country Road 1, Soi Cowboy Entertainment Zone, on the last Sunday of every month.
  • Tuesday nights at Tokyo Joe’s Blues Bar is “buy one get one free” on all standard drinks and beers, from 9.00pm onwards. Now that sounds like a good promotion to me. Also, be sure to check out the great voice of Hanni and her The Blues Coolies while you are there.
